The Gainesville Community Redevelopment Agency (GCRA) was established in 1981 with a mission to create a redevelopment framework in which the central city district would evolve into a more dynamic office, service, financial, entertainment, residential and governmental area. Currently, the CRA operates in four Community Redevelopment Areas within Gainesville: Eastside, Fifth Avenue/Pleasant Street, Downtown and College Park/University Heights. Redevelopment projects in these areas all share a central purpose: to alleviate urban blight.

In 2013, Foresight Construction Group was awarded the three-year Continuing Construction Management Professional Services for Minor Projects contract with the GCRA to provide construction management services for these redevelopment projects. Projects typically performed under this contract include new construction, renovation, remodeling, building maintenance, equipment installation and other miscellaneous projects on properties owned by the GCRA, the City of Gainesville or others. Construction costs for each project do not exceed $2,000,000.
