HIGHER EDUCATION
Building Spaces That Shape Tomorrow’s Leaders
With our very first project on a college campus, Foresight has a long-standing history in higher education. We understand the unique complexities of working on university campuses and the importance of delivering projects safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to campus life.
Why Foresight?
Foresight wasn’t named after a founder — it was named after our purpose. We chose the name Foresight because we believe great construction is about anticipating what’s next, not just reacting to what’s now. While other builders play defense, we stay on offense — looking ahead to potential challenges, opportunities, and solutions so our clients don’t have to. Owners can rest assured knowing we’re thinking ahead on their behalf, delivering projects with confidence, clarity, and control at every step.

University of Florida,
Institute of Black Culture and Institute of Hispanic-Latino Cultures
Gainesville, FLORIDA
The former Institutes, two Victorian houses built in the 1920s, were purchased by the University in 1954 and designated to the IBC and IHLC in 1971 and 1994, respectively. With this new construction, the square footage for each building was more than doubled. The project involved constructing two LEED v4 Gold buildings totaling 13,230 GSF, each thoughtfully designed to incorporate culturally significant elements. Each building includes offices, event space, study rooms, a warming kitchen, and social spaces. The work required extensive site improvements, underground utilities, tree mitigation, telecommunications, furniture, equipment, and artwork.
The project faced extremely tight site logistics, requiring precise planning and coordination to manage the limited space effectively and safely. Additionally, our team executed an Early Release Package involving the selective demolition, preservation, and salvage of the existing structures, along with site restoration, to pave the way for the new buildings.
St. Petersburg College, EpiCenter Chillers Replacement
Gainesville, Florida
The EpiCenter, a joint-use facility between St. Petersburg College and Pinellas County, serves as a hub where professionals from business, government, and academia collaborate to provide innovative programs and services. The facility features classroom spaces for SPC programs, training facilities for CareerSource Pinellas, and administrative offices for Pinellas County Economic Development.
This project involved the renovation of the EpiCenter, with a focus on modernizing critical infrastructure systems. Key upgrades included replacing the building’s chiller system, installing new chilled water piping, and integrating new pumps to enhance cooling efficiency. The scope also included significant structural improvements, such as new concrete work and structural steel installations, as well as extensive electrical upgrades to support the facility’s enhanced operations.
Foresight’s team worked to ensure the facility continues to provide a dynamic and efficient environment for education, training, and economic development initiatives.
University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, Blueberry Research Facility
GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA
This project involved the construction of a cutting-edge, single-story, 9,800-gross-square-foot facility dedicated to blueberry breeding, research, extension, and instruction. Designed to support the University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS), the facility advances UF’s national leadership in blueberry innovation and research.
The self-contained building includes specialized laboratories for molecular analysis, tissue culture, and fruit quality testing, as well as instructional rooms for lectures and training sessions. The integration of research and teaching functions within the same facility allows for accelerated cultivar development and enhanced support for Florida blueberry producers.
The Blueberry Research Facility stands as a critical investment in agricultural science, strengthening UF’s capacity to serve the state’s growers and maintain its position at the forefront of blueberry research in the United States.
