Foresight Volunteers Support Gainesville Housing Authority’s New ELITE Training Center Summer Camp

Jul 15, 2025 | News Feed

At Foresight Construction Group, we believe building strong communities is just as important as building great projects. As part of our Foresight Forward community engagement initiative, our Gainesville office recently volunteered at the Gainesville Housing Authority’s new ELITE Training Center, supporting their summer camp program for local youth.

On July 11, Foresight employees spent the afternoon leading hands-on activities designed to introduce participants to the world of construction in a fun, engaging way. Together, volunteers and campers built and painted wooden birdhouses to take home, and competed in a spaghetti-and-marshmallow tower challenge to see who could design the tallest structure. These activities gave the children a chance to plan, design, build, and think creatively, offering a small taste of the teamwork and problem-solving that go into construction projects every day.

About the ELITE Training Center
The volunteer event was hosted at the Gainesville Housing Authority’s newly opened ELITE Training Center on East University Avenue. ELITE stands for Empowerment, Life Skills, Innovation, Training, and Entrepreneurship, and the center represents an important investment in Gainesville’s future.

Opened in May 2025 with the help of a $500,000 CHOICE Neighborhoods Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, the center provides job training, entrepreneurial classes, and business development programs to GHA residents and the broader community. Early programming includes classes for GED preparation, entrepreneurship coaching for local start-ups, and partnerships with organizations such as Santa Fe College and the Gainesville Technology Entrepreneurship Center.

This community-focused vision aims to equip residents with the skills they need to find meaningful employment, launch businesses, and revitalize neighborhoods across East Gainesville. As Pamela Davis, Executive Director of the Gainesville Housing Authority, has shared:

“This is what we were hoping for. Where there is hopelessness, we can provide hope.”

Foresight Forward: Our Commitment to Community
Foresight Forward reflects our belief that the work we do to strengthen and support our communities is just as vital as the buildings we deliver. Whether volunteering, donating, or showing up for local causes, our people are committed to making a positive impact—moving both Foresight and our communities forward, together.

We’re grateful to the Gainesville Housing Authority for the opportunity to support their mission and for welcoming our Gainesville office team to be part of this important work. We look forward to many more opportunities to partner with organizations making a difference in the places we call home.

Foresight Breaks Ground on Clay County Gun Range

The Foresight team along with the Clay County Board of County Commissioners and Clay County Sheriff’s Office recently broke ground on the Clay County Outdoor Gun Range!

The Jacksonville team will work to create a 312-foot-wide firing line with 30 individual shooting stations and an observation guard tower. The facility will also have enclosed restrooms and paved parking. The project will include a new access road from County Road 213 to enter.

This facility will provide CCSO a place to conduct training as well as provide citizens with a safe place for firearm training and shooting.
